He was answering a question about the value they would bring to the PGA Tour if they came back.

LIV Golf's future is not clear.

Its last event of the year is this week in Indianapolis.

Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund will stop paying for the league.

LIV CEO Scott O'Neil said players would become part owners under a new plan.

He did not say who the main investor is or how much money would be invested.

The main players for LIV are Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau.

Both have won two major championships.

Brooks Koepka returned to the PGA Tour this year with strict penalties.

The tour gave a similar offer to Rahm, DeChambeau, and Cameron Smith.

Scottie Scheffler said LIV has some very good players who would add value to the tour.

He said there should be some penalties for coming back.

McIlroy said the way back would be hard.

He noted that any future offer probably would not be as good as Koepka's.

LIV also faces two lawsuits from vendors who want payment.
