American tennis player Coco Gauff won her second major title at the French Open, a trophy she had wanted for a long time. She beat the top-ranked player, Aryna Sabalenka. Gauff said her calm performance came from following Olympic champion Gabby Thomas's idea of writing down positive affirmations. Gauff wrote many times that she would be the French Open champion before the final match. Even though many thought she would lose, Gauff stayed calm and focused during the match, while Sabalenka had trouble controlling her emotions. Gauff has found it helpful to express her feelings before games so she can stay calm during them. After her win, Gauff plans to play in the grass-court season and might play in a tournament in Berlin before Wimbledon.
