American tennis star Coco Gauff won her second major title at the French Open, a trophy she had wanted for a long time. Gauff beat top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka after being inspired by Olympic champion Gabby Thomas's method of writing down positive affirmations. Gauff adopted this way of thinking, writing many times that she would be the French Open champion before the final match. Even though she was not expected to win, Gauff stayed calm and focused during the match, while Sabalenka had trouble controlling her emotions. Gauff has found it helpful to express her emotions before games, which allows her to stay calm during matches. After her win, Gauff plans to play in the grass-court season and might play in a tournament in Berlin before going to Wimbledon.
