Shohei Ohtani, the Japanese baseball star, has become only the third player in Dodgers history to hit 20 home runs in the first 55 games of a season.

This impressive feat puts Shohei Ohtani in the same category as Gil Hodges and Cody Bellinger. It also marks only the 64th time a Major League Baseball player has achieved this milestone, and the first since Pete Alonso of the New York Mets did it in 2023.

Shohei Ohtani, a three-time MVP and this season's home run leader in the major league, scored for his team with a two-run homer in the game against the Cleveland Guardians. This was his fourth hit of the season against a sidearm pitch.

It's worth noting that even Shohei Ohtani's missed swings can sometimes turn into home runs, and he has had two streaks this season where he hit home runs in three consecutive games.

Since joining the Dodgers, this four-time All-Star has had three separate months where he's hit at least a dozen home runs.
