Alpine, the Formula 1 outfit, has effectuated a personnel alteration, opting to elevate Franco Colapinto to a driving berth for a minimum of the forthcoming quintet of Grand Prix events, thereby displacing Jack Doohan.

Alpine formally acknowledged the transition on Wednesday, 24 hours following Oliver Oakes's resignation as team principal, concurrently announcing that Flavio Briatore would retain his role as executive advisor and assume Oakes's former responsibilities.

"Alpine stipulated in a communiqué that Colapinto is slated to be conjoined with Pierre Gasly commencing with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, preceding a subsequent appraisal prior to the British Grand Prix in July."

Subsequent to the initial sextet of races, Alpine is positioned ninth within the Formula 1 constructors’ championship hierarchy, with the forthcoming race weekend scheduled for May 16-18 at the Imola circuit.

Doohan's participation in Sunday's Miami Grand Prix was abruptly terminated, first by an early-race entanglement on the inaugural lap, and then irrevocably by a subsequent impact on the second.

Speculation regarding a potential driver rotation, widely disseminated by the media in the lead-up to the Miami Grand Prix weekend, was peremptorily dismissed by Oakes, who had previously intimated that the neophyte Australian driver would retain his position in the cockpit.

Doohan, having failed to register a single point across his seven Grand Prix outings and with a zenith performance of merely thirteenth, is set to be demoted to the capacity of the team's reserve driver.

Jack Doohan, scion of quintuple motorcycle world champion Mick Doohan, commenced his Formula 1 career during the denouement of the 2024 season and subsequently represented Alpine at the inaugural Australian Grand Prix this year, deputising for Esteban Ocon, who had departed Alpine following a lacklustre 2024 campaign.

Colapinto's assimilation into the Alpine cadre as a reserve driver in January followed his 2024 engagement with Williams, an appointment initiated in August as Logan Sargeant's replacement, from which he accrued a total of five points.
