A jury in Las Vegas found Duane “Keffe D” Davis guilty of first-degree murder.

The crime was the 1996 killing of rap star Tupac Shakur.

Davis, who is 63 years old, was found guilty on Monday.

The charge was one count of murder with a deadly weapon.

He could get a life sentence in prison.

The jury talked for less than three hours after a trial that lasted weeks.

Prosecutors said Davis got a gun and went to find Shakur and Marion “Suge” Knight.

Knight was the co-founder of Death Row Records.

This happened after the men had beaten up Davis’ nephew earlier that night.

Davis did not fire the gun himself.

But prosecutors argued that, as a gang leader, he ordered the shooting.

Defense lawyer Michael Sanft said there was no physical proof that linked Davis to the shooting.

Shakur was in Las Vegas on Sept. 7, 1996.

A white Cadillac pulled up next to him, and shots were fired.

He died six days later.

Davis is the only person still alive among the four men who prosecutors say were in the Cadillac.

He made public statements and wrote a book that placed him at the scene.

Shakur’s sister, Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur, cried and hugged prosecutors after the verdict.

Davis’ son covered his face with one hand.

The sentencing is planned for October.

The case had interested hip-hop fans for many years.

The killing of the Notorious B.I.G. six months after Shakur’s death is still unsolved.
