U.S. employers added 162,000 jobs in August.
That is far more than the 65,000 jobs experts expected.
The unemployment rate stayed at 4.1%.
The Labor Department also changed June and July numbers.
It added 55,000 more jobs for those months.
President Donald Trump liked the report.
He said on social media that the numbers broke all estimates.
Inflation is still a big worry for voters.
Fuel prices are high.
Average hourly pay went up only 3.1% from last year.
That is the smallest gain since May 2021.
Restaurants, construction, and manufacturing added the most jobs.
The labor force grew by 683,000 people last month.
Some economists did not believe the strong report.
Thomas Simons works at Jefferies.
He called it a "payback" after three weak months.
He said it is not a sign of faster growth.
The report may push the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates in September.
Fed Chair Kevin Warsh said inflation is still too high.
It is far above the central bank's 2% target.
Employers cannot find enough workers.
Immigration rules are stricter, and baby boomers are retiring.
Many companies use technology and AI to work better.
The information industry lost 23,000 jobs last month.
That loss is linked to AI replacing workers.
But some business leaders say AI cannot replace people.
David Iancu works at a law firm in Milwaukee.
He said AI cannot replace human relationships.
That is true in hard fields like divorce law.
