Wall Street stocks fell on Tuesday.
Oil prices kept going up.
This made people worry about high inflation.
The S&P 500 dropped 0.4%.
The Dow fell 190 points.
The Nasdaq slipped 0.5%.
September started weakly.
August was mostly good for the big indexes.
Technology stocks hurt the market a lot.
Microsoft fell 1.3%.
Advanced Micro Devices dropped 2.4%.
These companies are very big, so they have strong influence.
Their growth depended on borrowing money.
Borrowing gets more expensive when interest rates go up.
There was also pressure from selling U.S. government bonds.
The 10-year Treasury yield went up to 4.77%.
It was 4.75% late Monday.
The 2-year yield went up to 4.37%.
It was 4.34% before.
Higher yields mean investors think Treasurys are riskier.
One reason is that government debt is growing.
It passed $40 trillion two weeks ago.
Oil prices caused much of the inflation worry.
Brent crude went up 2.3% to $92.61.
The Strait of Hormuz is effectively shut down.
This is because of the U.S. war with Iran.
Higher energy costs made gasoline and shipped goods more expensive.
Inflation is still above 3%.
Investors think there is a 66% chance the Fed will raise rates in September.
European markets fell.
Asian markets were mixed.
