Kevin Warsh is the new head of the Federal Reserve.
He has changed how the central bank talks.
He says much less than the people before him about the economy and inflation.
Many economists and Wall Street investors are not happy with this.
On Friday, Warsh will speak at the Fed’s yearly meeting in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
This is a big chance for him to answer their worries.
Economists want a clear sign about how he thinks the Fed should deal with inflation.
Inflation is still above the Fed’s 2% goal.
At his last press meeting on July 29, he confused people.
He did not answer questions about raising interest rates if inflation stays high.
Warsh says he does not want to give "forward guidance" about future rate moves.
He says that would limit the Fed’s choices.
Some economists say he could explain his plan without showing his next step.
Warsh has said his speech will be about "big questions" like AI, productivity, and changes in population.
He has not said if he thinks "underlying inflation" is getting worse.
He also has not said how he measures it.
He talked about the Fed’s favorite inflation measure.
But he said that could change next year.
He also said higher rates "could well be part of that solution."
He would not say if they would be used alone.
President Donald Trump wants lower rates.
He has also tried to remove Fed governor Lisa Cook.
Economists say this has hurt the Fed’s trust.
Diane Swonk is the chief economist at KPMG.
She wrote that Warsh’s speech is a chance to show he is independent from politics.
Economists say a clearer statement would help.
It would show how the Fed might act if inflation stays high.
If Warsh calms people’s worries, long-term interest rates could drop a little.
The 30-year Treasury bond rate hit a 19-year high last week.
