However, what people expect for their income, businesses, and jobs in the near future is still below 80, which might mean a recession is coming. The Labor Department said that 177,000 jobs were added in April, and this helped people feel more confident. But, worries about tariffs and rising prices were still the main concerns in the survey. Even with these worries, people said they planned to spend more on houses, cars, and vacations.
