South Korea said a court in the Czech Republic stopped a big plan for South Korea to build two nuclear power plants. But South Korea thinks this is just a small problem and the plan will still happen later.
A group of companies from South Korea thought they would finish a deal this week with a company from the Czech Republic that gives electricity. But a court in the Czech Republic stopped the company from signing the deal. The court is looking at a problem from a French company that also wanted the deal but did not get it.
South Korea's Industry Minister Ahn Dukgeun said the court's decision means they will sign the contract later. He said everything else will still happen on time if the deal happens. He also said the Czech government did not think the court would stop the plan, and that CEZ wants to try to change the decision.
We don't know when the court in the Czech Republic will decide about that.
Ahn said the Czech government didn't think EDF's claims were a big problem. They asked them to come to the signing. He also said the Czech government's idea was different from what the court decided.
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on Wednesday that his government respects the court's decision. He also said that he thinks the judges and the court know how important this decision is for the safety of the Czech Republic and for the country's interests.
Lee Ju-Ho is the acting president of South Korea. He said that Seoul will work closely with the Czech side to finish the deal quickly.
In July, a company called CEZ chose a company called KHNP to build two large nuclear power plants at Dukovany. They chose KHNP instead of a company called EDF. Last week, EDF went to court because the Czech government did not agree with their complaint about how CEZ chose the company.
Last month, the president of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, lost his job. This happened because he tried to start martial law in December, but it did not work well. Before this, he said he wanted to sell more nuclear power plants to other countries. He thought the government before him, which was more liberal, had made it hard to sell nuclear power plants. This was because they wanted to use less nuclear energy in South Korea. Yoon's government wanted to sell 10 nuclear power plants to other countries by the year 2030.
