Julia from a group that helps nature said the government in Peru is not telling the truth about new rules. They say the rules are needed for Europe, but this is not true. Europe wants companies to show their products like food and oil do not come from land where trees were cut down illegally.

She said if bad wood can be sold, rules in Europe will not be strong.

This is not good for world trade and makes it harder to stop cutting down trees, Urrunaga said.

Olivier Coupleux from the EU in Peru says the new laws are not because of the EU's rule about forests.

Coupleux told people in Peru the rule stops buying things that hurt forests. It does not need new laws. It needs to know where things like coffee, cocoa, and wood come from and if they are good for the world.

Groups will go to courts in other countries. They cannot go to courts in their own country. They say this decision is bad. It is bad for other countries that want to stop following environment laws. They say it is change, but it is not.

Many leaders think the law is bad for their land, their people, and how they live.

Julio Cusurichi said this change is bad. He said people will take land and hurt nature in places that are already in danger.

Cusurichi said: Our people always took care of our land and the Earth.
