The Trump government said ok to some coal power plants. They don't have to stop bad air for two years. The bad air has things like mercury and arsenic.
A list on a website shows 47 power companies.
Some big power plants make the air dirty. One is in Montana and makes the air very dirty. Another one is in North Dakota and makes a lot of mercury pollution.
Some big companies own these plants. These companies are Talen Energy, Dominion Energy, NRG Energy, and Southern Co.
The rules also help four places that a big company called the Tennessee Valley Authority has.
The EPA said the new rules will help make electricity from coal stronger and cheaper for people, and keep our energy safe.
Michelle said coal power is good for electricity and jobs.
She said the old rules were not right and used wrong information.
The rule about mercury might make coal power plants close early. But we need these plants for electricity.
People who care about nature said Trump and Lee Zeldin did not do their job.
Maya Golden-Krasner said the new rules are not good for clean air. She works for a group that protects nature. She said it is wrong to make people breathe more pollution. She said this helps companies that pollute, not people or the Earth.
Groups say the plan lets companies ignore rules for a clean environment and healthy people.
Some people say the new email for the EPA is bad for the environment.
Some rules can be changed. These rules are about bad things in the air, like mercury. Mercury can hurt your brain, especially if you are a child. It can also hurt babies before they are born.
Last week, Trump signed papers to help old coal power plants make more electricity.
