Figma is a company that makes software for designing things. On Tuesday, they said they want to sell shares of the company to people. They gave secret papers to the government. We will find out more when these papers are public. This will probably happen in about a month if everything goes well.
But the stock market is very sensitive to President Trump's trade decisions. Because of this, it is surprising that a company is trying to sell shares now, even just to see if it's possible. Two big tech companies, Klarna and StubHub, stopped their plans to sell shares in April after the market went down because of news about tariffs. They haven't made new plans yet.
Figma wants to sell shares of the company, but it might take longer than usual. Normally, this process takes about one or two months after they submit their private documents.
Figma is a company that makes online tools for designers to work together. In May 2024, the company was worth $12.5 billion. This happened after some people who owned parts of the company could sell some of their shares. Another company, Adobe, wanted to buy Figma for $20 billion. But this deal did not happen in 2023 because governments in Europe and the United States said no.
Important companies like Sequoia Capital and Index Ventures give money to the company, and people from these companies are on the board.
Figma refused to provide any additional comments.
