Wall Street ended Thursday about the same as it started.
The day had big ups and downs.
The S&P 500 was almost flat.
It fell less than 0.1%.
The Dow Jones fell 161 points.
That is 0.3%.
The Nasdaq rose less than 0.1%.
Stocks have slowed down this week.
The S&P 500 came close to its highest level ever.
Now the bond market pushes back.
The 10-year Treasury yield jumped to 5.20%.
It was 5.11% on Wednesday.
That is the highest since 2007.
High yields slow the economy.
Borrowing costs more.
They also push stock prices down.
Yields followed oil prices.
Oil prices move up and down a lot.
People do not know when the war with Iran will end.
Then oil can flow freely from the Middle East.
The price of Brent crude fell fast.
It went from $102 to about $99 in minutes.
Then it ended at $100.22.
That is up 2.1%.
Rising yields are not only about oil and prices.
The U.S. economy keeps growing.
That also pushes yields up.
A report on Thursday showed fewer people asked for unemployment help.
Traders now think the Federal Reserve will raise rates two more times this year.
That is more likely than not.
This comes from CME Group data.
