Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh faced questions from the Senate on Wednesday.
The questions were about inflation, AI, and his contact with President Donald Trump.
He gave only a few specific answers.
Warsh said a one-time price change from AI investment is not necessarily inflationary.
He noted that a supply response could follow.
However, he agreed that AI infrastructure costs have raised prices for tech products like laptops and tablets.
The Fed’s last meeting showed that many officials believe strong AI demand will keep upward pressure on technology prices.
The committee is divided on whether to raise rates later this year.
Warsh downplayed recent positive inflation data.
He said such measures are not perfect.
He will use a new task force to study data sources and why inflation stays high.
Warsh repeated that he is independent from political pressure.
He did not say whether he has spoken with Trump since his appointment.
He stated that the president chose an independent person for the job.
