Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh faced Senate questions on Wednesday.
The topics included inflation, AI, and his contact with President Donald Trump.
He gave few specific answers.
Warsh said a one-time price change from AI investment is not necessarily inflationary.
He noted that a supply response could follow.
However, he acknowledged that AI infrastructure costs have raised prices for tech products like laptops and tablets.
The Fed’s last meeting showed that many officials believe strong AI demand will keep upward pressure on technology prices.
The committee is divided on whether to raise rates later this year.
Warsh downplayed recent positive inflation data.
He said such measures are imperfect.
He will rely on a new task force to study data sources and inflation persistence.
Warsh repeated his independence from political pressure.
He did not say whether he has spoken with Trump since his appointment.
He stated that the president chose an independent person for the job.
