Important people from the U.S. and China have agreed to start their trade talks again. The talks almost stopped because of some problems, but now they will continue. Both countries have said this.

The announcement was made after two days of meetings in London that finished on Tuesday evening.

The meetings were about solving arguments over selling minerals and technology. These arguments had made a trade agreement from last month in Geneva weak. We don't know if they made any progress on the main problem: China sells much more to the US than it buys.

First, we had to get rid of the bad feelings, and now we can go forward,

Stock markets in Asia went up on Wednesday after the agreement was announced.

The talks happened after President Trump and China's leader, Xi Jinping, spoke on the phone last week to make things better.

Li Chenggang, a leader from China's Ministry of Commerce, said that China and the other country have agreed on a plan to do what they talked about on the phone and in Geneva, according to Xinhua News Agency.

We don't have more information yet, like if they will meet again to talk.

Li and Wang Wentao, who is China's commerce minister, were with Vice Premier He Lifeng. They met with Lutnick, Scott Bessent, and Jamieson Greer at Lancaster House. This is an old house near Buckingham Palace.

Wendy Cutler, who used to work for the U.S. government on trade, said that 30 of the 90 days were lost because of the arguments. The two sides have 90 days to try to fix their problems.

In Geneva, countries decided to stop most of the very high taxes they put on each other for three months. This happened because of a growing trade problem that made people worried about the economy. Also, the World Bank said on Tuesday that the economy in the U.S. and the world might not grow as much as expected this year.

Cutler, who works at the Asia Society Policy Institute, said that the U.S. and China wasted time fixing their agreements from Geneva. He added that they now have only two months to deal with problems like unfair trade, making too many products, sending goods through other countries, and the drug fentanyl.

Since their meeting in Geneva, the U.S. and China have argued about important computer chips for AI, visas for Chinese students, and special minerals used in cars and other products.

China makes most of the world's rare earths. They might let other countries buy these materials faster. China wants the U.S. to let them use technology to make better computer chips.

Lutnick said that solving the rare earths problem is a main part of their agreement. He also said the U.S. will stop some actions it took because of this problem, but he didn't say what they were.

He said that when they approve the licenses, our exports will probably also go down.

Cutler said it would be very unusual for the U.S. to discuss its export rules. She said China has been complaining about these rules for almost 20 years.

She said that because of this, China can now easily ask to add rules about exports to future talks.

A court in Washington said on Tuesday that the government can continue to collect special taxes on goods from China and other countries. This is happening while the government tries to win an appeal about Trump's trade rules.

Trump said he wants to sell more American products in China, because China makes many things.

Trump said at the White House, "If we don't trade with China, maybe we won't do anything." He also said, "But we want to trade with China."
