China has a new trade boss on Wednesday.
The government said Li Chenggang will do the trade talks instead of Wang Shouwen.
Two big countries put more taxes on things they sell to each other. One country has a very big tax, and the other has a smaller tax for a short time.
China's economy grew fast. People think it will be slower later.
China's economy grew by 5% last year. Exports helped a lot. The goal for this year is still about 5%.
China put extra taxes on some things from the U.S.
A government person said the new taxes will make things difficult for China's economy now, but they will not stop it from growing later.
China changed the people who talk for them. They have other ideas too.
China also stopped selling some special materials. They are called rare earths. People use them in phones, planes, and for the army.
Before this job, Li worked for about 4 and a half years. He was China's ambassador to the World Trade Organization. This is a group that helps countries trade.
He worked for China at the United Nations in Switzerland.
He also worked for the business part and was the boss of the law part.
Li studied law at Peking University in China. He also studied economics at the University of Hamburg.
